If you win this raffle, you will be able to choose the theme of your story blanket and we will make it for you according to your vision. The knitted Story Blanket in the photos was hand knitted by our Maple Village School parents to raffle at our Harvest Faire last year.  It’s theme was ‘The Four Seasons’ and as you can see it is divided into Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. It was amazingly stunning. Other ideas for a theme would be; WOODLAND, with forest greens, streams and toadstools or FARMYARD, with veggie patches, ploughed land and wheat fields or BEACH, with the sea and waves and sand and seaweed… your imagination is the limit.

Your blanket will be 3 x 4 feet big and will be a hand knitted collaboration by our Maple Village community. It will be completed by July 1st, 2013.

2. The Needle Felted Toys

Imagine stepping into a school that welcomes you with the sight of children’s watercolor paintings of apple trees and handmade jump-ropes, the smell of vegetable soup simmering, and the sound of young voices singing about the coming winter wind.  As you continue down the hall, you see kindergarteners building castles, houses, and multi-level ramps out of wooden blocks; first graders drawing the story of King Winter in their lesson books, and second and third graders practicing mental math, with the help of Ida the Spider in the Land of Mathemagics.   Outside in the play yard, you find the preschoolers playing with sand and water and twigs, while toddlers harvest carrots and peas for their snack.

Now imagine that school growing, and in just 5 years graduating their first eighth graders.  At graduation, you see those students grown into pre-adolescents with broad abilities and confidence; able to write beautiful stories, tell you about Ancient India, the Renaissance, and Napoleon; grasp fundamental math, physics, and geometry concepts; draw intricate pictures of their science experiments and paint watercolor portraits; sculpt out of clay and build out of wood; and even knit a pair of socks!  Most importantly, you meet young people who have a sense for truth, beauty, and goodness, and who are eager to more fully develop their own potentials and contribute to the health of their communities.

At Maple Village School, we hold and nurture this powerful vision for our students.

We reach out to you today to ask that you join us in continuing to work towards our vision, by making a financial contribution.  Your generous donation will supply us with watercolor paints and yarn, or perhaps fund a teacher’s renewal course, or build a new play yard structure, or support a student on tuition adjustment.

Our young school has already grown from an idea voiced around a kitchen table to a magical school with 5 classrooms serving toddlers through third grade; a vibrant, caring faculty; and a lively, supportive Parent Village.  We have waiting lists for our early childhood programs, and 25% of our students benefit from our tuition adjustment program.

Join us in nurturing future generations.  Please consider making a contribution to Maple Village School.
