Hello friends,

We are pleased to announce our next Walk Through the Classes event on Friday, January 10th, 2014.  The walkthrough will begin at 9:30am and last until 10:30am or so, and is for adults only (babes in arms who are not walking/crawling are also ok).  We welcome all interested adults to come visit our classes in session and talk about Maple Village with our Pedagogical Administrator, Christina Sbarra.  There will be plenty of time for questions and application materials will be available.

We have limited space available for this event, so please call our office at (562) 434-8200 or email us at info@maplevillageschool.org to reserve your spot!

Below are some photos of our classes from this fall to give you a preview of what you may see during the walkthrough:

Painting is one of the only times during the week that the children are not allowed to talk. We tell them to listen to the color. It is amazing to see the children silent and fully absorbed in the process.

It is amazing to see the Sunflower Kindergarten children fully absorbed in their painting.

Beeswax dragons for Michaelmas.

The children have been amazing helpers in the classroom. They are using their sweet voices to sing our meal blessings and using golden polite words for asking and receiving at the table.

Parent Evening at
Maple Village Waldorf School

TONIGHT

The Advantage of Combined Grades Classes
and Shady Trees Parent Evening
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
6:30 – 7:30; 7:30- 8:15 p.m.

There are many advantages to both students and the school community when children in adjacent grades are combined into multi-age classes. Maple Village School has two combined classes: the Evergreens, grades 3 and 4, and the Shady Trees, grades 1 and 2. Attend this evening to find out how the Waldorf curriculum weaves through the multi-age development of the students and how the students are enriched, both developmentally and academically, by the extended classroom community.

Ms. Ania and Ms. Christina for the Shady Trees class, and Ms. Lynne, in her third year with the combined Evergreens class, invite all parents in our community to this informative evening.

We will begin together at 6:30. Parent attendees outside of the Oaks and Shady Trees classes will be excused at 7:30. From 7:30 – 8:15 we will hold a parent meeting for the Shady Trees class along with a visit to first grade with Ms. Christina for the first grade Oaks parents.

Childcare Reservation Required. Childcare, with Ms. Victoria, is offered at a cost of $10 per child, $5 for siblings. Childcare opens at 6:15. Please call or email the office to reserve a spot and please bring a snack for your child(ren).
